Saint-Julien is right in the heart of Aquitaine, so you’ll have the choice to explore either Les Landes with its fantastic Atlantic coastline and Regional Park, the vineyards of Bordeaux, the rolling hills of the Gers (France’s Little Tuscany) or the beautiful mountains of the Pyrenees.

Bastides in the Armagnac region
The region surrounding Beaux-Cieux is rich in history and dotted with castles and attractive medieval Bastide villages where you can soak up the atmosphere from pretty cobbled squares and ancient buildings, while enjoying a delicious lunch in a pavement café. Only five minutes away, lies the pretty Bastide village of Labastide d'Armagnac with its famous square which inspired the Place des Vosges in Paris. In the Gers, Montréal (the first ever bastide, with its nearby Roman villa), Fourcès (a unique round Bastide) and Larressingle (surely France smallest fortified village), all 3 on the list of the most beautiful French villages, are all awaiting you, a short drive away. |

The Landes Regional Park
The Landes Regional Park is a vast area of shady pine forests opening occasionally into lakes, wetlands and sleepy hamlets with churches dating back 900 years. To discover the park and its history, you’ll be spoilt for choice between horse-riding, canoeing, cycle trails, rambling along marked routes or taking a train-ride back in time. |

The Côte Landaise
The Côte Landaise, also known as the Côte Sauvage (the Wild Coast) is a natural playground of over 200 miles of ocean beaches, lakes and family-friendly resorts. After a day at a magnificent beach, you’ll be glad to leave the crowds behind and return to your country retreat!
An easy day-trip away, you can discover the Bay of Arcachon and its natural wonders such as the Dune du Pyla, or Biarritz and the Basque country, where the mountains meet the ocean. |
In the Bordeaux Graves or Sauternes regions, take a private tour of one of the small (or big) vineyard châteaux and listen as the winegrower shares with you the art and passion that go into making a bottle of Bordeaux wine. Amongst the vineyards, you'll be surprised to find beautiful castles well-worth a visit, such as Cazeneuve and Roquetaillade!
