Beaux-Cieux is a beautifully restored holiday cottage. It nestles at the heart of the tiny hill-top hamlet of Saint-Julien d'Armagnac in Gascony, on the border of Les Landes and the Gers (the French ‘Little Tuscany’), yet also close to the Gironde and Lot-et-Garonne. This makes it the ideal base to explore the whole South-West of France. It is a rural paradise for children of all ages and the perfect antidote for the stresses of modern life.

A rural setting
The region of Bas-Armagnac boasts gently undulating hills covered with vineyards, fields of corn and sunflowers, with magnificent views reaching to the Pyrenees mountains, 90 kilometers to the south.
The house is within easy reach of historic medieval Bastide villages, châteaux and vineyards. The fantastic Atlantic coastline with its world famous 'cote sauvage', 150 kilometers of beach and surfer's paradise, is just over an hour's drive away. The Bay of Arcachon with the world famous Dune de Pyla, the historic city of Bordeaux and the marvellous seaside resort of Biarritz are easily within reach for the perfect day-trip.

The rural setting and peace of the surroundings make it a haven for a large variety of wildlife that you can watch from the door-step: deer (frequently seen in the fields), wild boars, pheasants, partridges, buzzards, kestrels, wild pigeons on their migration route and occasionally a hoopoe to mention only a few.
The air is crystal-clear and unpolluted, with striking cloud formations, wonderful sunsets and the splendour of the Milky Way in the night sky. Then you’ll understand why it’s named Beaux-Cieux. |

It has an open-plan living area, 4 bedrooms (two doubles, two twins), 1 mezzanine and 2 bathrooms, to accommodate comfortably 8 people plus 2 in the futon in the mezzanine, as well as a toddler in a fixed cot and a baby in a travel cot.
There are plenty of indoor and outdoor games to occupy young and old.

An extensive garden and private salt-water pool
The house is set in 10 acres of grounds surrounded by completely unspoilt countryside of open fields and mature woodlands. Its south-facing terrace overlooks the pool and beautiful lawn sheltered by a hedge. Beyond the garden is the village church built on an ancient medieval moat, and leafy town square. The pool is fully-secured by a sliding hard cover which not only keeps it clean and warm but allows you to enjoy a swim whatever the weather. There is a very large trampoline (with safety net) a Quaddro climbing frame and slide, and many outdoor games such as table-tennis, swingball and badminton. There are large acacias in the garden with a secret tree-house, and the remains of an ancient wine-press.
